Maryland Madness!

Maryland Madness took place on Friday evening at Comcast Center.

As you'll see in the pictures below, there were a lot of dunks, 22 total for both sides. The Red team won the ten minute scrimmage, 36-25.

Both the Men's and Women's teams sported their new uniforms. The Terps were introduced with fire and smoke machines. Coach Mark Turgeon was introduced to Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight” after a video featuring messages from former coaches Lefty Driesell and Gary Williams.

After the scrimmage, Turgeon said “I don’t like drawing attention to myself. I just can’t wait to tomorrow (Saturday) morning, 11:00 and practice. That’s what I’m excited about. When I was their age I enjoyed the spotlight, I enjoyed being in it. It’s a lot of fun.”

Coolest part of Coach Turgeon's media session was when he was asked about the weekend schedule, Turgeon glanced up at the tv in the media room showing the Nats game while addressing the question said, “We actually practiced tonight for about an hour, and then tomorrow we’re going to go twice...Nats scored. That’s great.... We’ll go at 11:00, work on defense, then we’ll come back, do a lot of offense, put a lot of things in. We might go twice Sunday.”

I'm excited for this team and happy Maryland Basketball is back in action.
